Thank you for sharing this. I have been making new sense of my own “anxiety and depression” lately too, realizing that being silenced as a child led to a lifelong habit of silencing myself. That’s all I knew — if I was upset, I did my best to keep it under wraps so as to not upset the fragile balance of my family. Of course not expressing myself would lead to anxiety and depression! Now the challenge is learning how to speak.
